Middletown CT Newfield School day book journal 1822 Item # 4983 1876. It lists the votes, people present and the cost of operating the school. The clerks of the day have all signed this journal. 1836 voted to fix a site for a school house.Feb 27th 1862 "The weather and traveling was very unpleasant voted to adjourn to March 6th 1862 at 7 pm Attest. Chester Sage Clerk." At an adjourned school meeting held at the school house May 23 1862 Jeremiah Bacon in the chair voted to lay a tax of one mill and one third of a mill on the grand levy of 1861 to pay the expenses of repairing the school house. "Voted that the parents of guardians of the children who may injure the school house, seats,desks,break the glass, shall repair or refurnish the same at their own expense." American Family record watercolor on paper 1801 to 1892 Item # 5075 19th c family record watercolor on paper 1801 to 1892. This family record mentions family births, marraiages and deaths. The color is quite strong depicting flowers, birds,and leaves. Wonderful condition for its age, no tears or repairs. The orignal frame is fair condition, some of its veneer has come off. 11 Civil War carte de visite photographs Mary Todd Lincoln Grant Item # 5130 Set of eleven Civil War carte de visite photographs. The photograph by Brady is of Mary Todd Lincoln, another looks like General Grant with a cigar in his mouth, two of R. Tyler Col. of the CT Volunteer Army, one is signed the other is not. The other appear to be of generals and officers. The photographs stamps on the reverse are R. W Addis 308 Penna Avenue Washington DC, Bennett no 69 King Street Alexandria, Va, W. F. Gurrows Successor to Fundy and Williams No 158 Main Street Middletown CT, J. Jones Photographer Va.F. M. V. Doughty photographer Winsted CT. The original album holds twelve carte de visite photograph but on eleven came with the set. This just found in a CT Church benefit auction, it was donated by a local CT family.
